Where it works
YouTube
Open any YouTube video and the sidebar appears automatically. YT Tutor loads the full transcript and gives Claude the context it needs to answer precisely — not from memory, from the actual video.
Any webpage
Click the icon on any tab. YT Tutor reads the page and opens a chat grounded in what's there — an article, a doc, a thread. Works wherever you browse.
What you get
[ 01 ]
Claude sees the full transcript or page content before you type a word — so its answers are grounded in what you're actually reading or watching, not generic web results.
[ 02 ]
Highlight any passage on the page. A floating button appears at your selection — click it and that text is quoted directly into your chat input.
[ 03 ]
A persistent notebook lives in the sidebar. Hover any AI response to copy it in with full formatting intact — bullet points, bold, code blocks, all preserved.
[ 04 ]
Switch tabs and the sidebar switches with you. Chat history, notes, and video timestamps are saved per page — everything right where you left it.
Focus mode
Every chat has a focus toggle. When focus mode is on, Claude answers strictly from the video or page you're on — no outside knowledge, no tangents. Turn it off and Claude brings in everything it knows. One toggle, same chat.
How to use it
Download the zip and unpack it. Go to chrome://extensions, enable Developer mode (top-right toggle), click Load unpacked, and select the unzipped folder.
Click the YT Tutor icon in your toolbar, open Settings (⚙), and paste your Anthropic API key. It's stored locally in your browser — never sent to any server, ever.
Navigate to any YouTube video and the sidebar opens automatically. Ask Claude to summarize, explain a concept, or dig into something you just heard. It has the full transcript in context.
Go to an article, a doc, a Reddit thread — anything. Click the YT Tutor icon in your toolbar and the sidebar opens, ready to chat about whatever is on the page.
Highlight any passage on the page. A small Ask AI button floats near your selection — click it and that text drops into the chat input as a quote, ready for your follow-up.
Switch to the Notebook tab to write or paste notes. Hover any AI response to copy it straight into the notebook — formatting intact. Everything saves automatically as you type.
